The State Of Things
January 28th, 2008
With drummer Joe Bross finishing up his last semester of his freshman year of college at the University of North Florida, we are left with Gooch, Bob and myself for the next few months. We have been working out an acoustic/electric set which is proving to solidify and expand on our current original songs while also allowing us to experiment with new sounds. We are gonna miss the powerhouse drum assault of Joe, but we seem to be exploding with new songs and creativity between the three of us right now.
The State Of Things is actually the title of a new song I’ve been working on. It was originally inspired by Invisible Children, a documentary about the lives of children in Uganda who have to hide daily from bushman attacks on their villages so as not to be turned into soldiers. I’m talking about 5 year olds! With the upcoming presidential election on my mind, it sort of evolved into a broader idea about where we are as Americans, and where we need to be going.
Come out to our first 61 North full acoustic/electric set at Theo’s on February 2 at 9:00pm. We will be debuting a lot of new blues covers and originals that I think are some of the best music we have come up with.

I can’t wait for the show on Saturday! I’m so excited to hear the new songs!

Although the President smugly says that “the State of the Union is strong”, the state of things is just the opposite
