Cover Me
February 22nd, 2008
Finally, after months of keeping it on the back burner, Brian, Bob, and I have finished writing a new song called Cover Me. I originally came up with the chorus and lyrics in my head after watching one of George W. Bush’s sabor rattling speeches. You know, the kind where he goes after terrorists and other so called “extremists”. By the time he was finished speaking, I literally felt like I needed someone to “Cover Me” from what is sure to come our way in the future due to the mistakes he’s made. I doubt anyone will though. It’s unfortunate that people are unwilling to reach out to others who have different beliefs the they do.
The song is a heavy powerhouse that goes straight to the heart of the point I’m trying to make. I told Brian that I had a song in my head that sounded like it needed an aggresive, powerful, Jimi Hendrix style riff to back it up. Sure enough, Bri came back with what will surely become one of the most well known guitar riffs of all time. Our music is constantly evolving. The more we write, the more the messages are revealed behind what drives 61 North Consider our lyrics to be the nails that are driven in by the hammer that is our music.
