This summer has been extremely fun and successful for 61 North.  We are really beginning to gel with our new drummer, Joe Bross.  He instantly clicked with us and is now, at age 19,  officially the little brother of the band.  We look forward to getting even tighter as we prepare for a full fall semester of rocking.  The studio time has been well spent, too.  With recording wrapping up just a few weeks ago and only post-production left, the release of On the Road is just around the corner and we couldn’t be any happier with how it’s shaping up.

Today, we look toward our Spinal Cord Injury Benefit Concert that will be held Saturday, October 4th from 7pm-10pm at the Salem Community College in Carneys Point NJ.  The money raised will be split between The Adam Taliaferro Foundation and the Magee Rehab Hospital in Philadelphia.  This cause is very close to my heart, having spent 6 months myself in Magee rehab and more recently working with the Adam Taliaferro foundation on their annual football classic.  I invite any and everyone out there to help us continue to raise awareness and money for victims of Spinal Cord Injuries.

When I was injuried 4 and 1/2 years ago, it was an overwhelming experience to say the least.   However, despite overwhelming adversity, I received some of the best healthcare treatment I could ever hope for.  That treatment was paid for by insurence.  What really blew my mind was the young men and women who were injuried and had no way to pay for their care.  That thought has never left me and it never will….the way that those victims and their families had to make hard choices in the face of the unknown.  The money that we raise will be used to directly help someone pay for a piece of equiptment, such as a lift, a wheelchair, or an exercise bike, that can and will impact their lives emmensely.  I appreciate everyone who has bought tickets, donated, sponsored, and volunteered for this great cause.  I look forward to tomorrow night and have the highest hopes for a great success.  We only hope that we can continue this event annually and make it bigger each year.
