News Brief
November 4th, 2008
I’m sitting here overwhelmed with what’s going on around me. First of all, its election day, and in less than 12 hours we will know who the next president of the United States is. It has almost been torturous listening to the intensity of the campaigning, stone throwing, debates and unbridled offerings of opinion flying through the air. Radio stations, tv, musicians, actors, annoyingly loud pedestrians; everyone has an opinion and rightfully so. But now, finally, its time to actually see what our new government will do. I pray things change.
Then there is the World Champion Philadelphia Phillies. Hell yea. I’m glad I didn’t start my job here at Appel Farm before I was able to celebrate for a week straight at the local Corner bar.
Halloween weekend was a big one for 61 North. We started out Friday night (Halloween) with a costume party at the beloved East End Cafe in Newark. It was a blast. Lower Case Blues was kind enough to have us split the bill with them. The next day was Skidfest. The crowd was throbbing. Gooch parted through the crowd like the red sea and successfully came on and off stage. It was a rage and the crowd loved it. Looking forward to Spring Skidfest! All the pictures from these are posted on our site 61northband.com.
But what really dominates my thoughts is the idea of holding a brand new, pressed copy of 61 North’s On The Road! This month marks month 6 of the process since we recorded our first track at Gradwell House Studios this summer. Super proud of the physical album’s art and layout, music and commitment all the guys and our team showed in getting this together.
Till next time,
B
